The Hippocratic Oath, or the Hippocritic Oath?
Our System Prioritizes Sickness over Wellness, Profit over Patient
The U.S. spends well over $4 trillion annually on medical care—twice as much per capita as any other nation—yet suffers the worst health outcomes among industrialized countries. Over 60% of Americans have at least one chronic disease, while cancer, diabetes, autism, and neurological disorders skyrocket. Until recently, no real effort was made to address root causes. Our healthcare system treats these conditions as a business opportunity. We find this unacceptable.
The truth? The corporate healthcare system thrives on sickness for its record-breaking profits. Nearly 20% of GDP (and growing) is spent on so-called “healthcare” annually, but this isn’t economic activity—it is human exploitation. Indeed, we are exchanging our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health for shareholder wealth. Equally important, deficit spending on sickness is bankrupting our nation. Patients and medical professionals- including doctors- have been manipulated into mindless complicity, as a carefully crafted narrative tries to convince us that this is all normal and that change is impossible. That is a lie.
